Reporting Damage

How to report?

Individuals

2-1-1: Report all damage to Vermont 211 by dialing 2-1-1 or visiting vermont211.org. NOTE: Reporting DOES NOT obligate the property owner to take any further action. If you need assistance reporting, please reach out the chelsealibraryvt@gmail.com. We are happy to help you navigate the reporting process!

FEMA – File a FEMA report. There is a FEMA office open at the Williamstown Public Safety Building at 249 Meadow Street, from 9 AM-5PM seven days a week until further notice. This is for residential property owners to make direct contact with FEMA representatives.

For more information about how to file a report with FEMA, follow this link.

What Can I Report?
  • Any structural damage
  • Internal damage- wet sheetrock, water-damaged belongings, etc.
  • Property damage to fencing, vehicles, appliances, etc.
  • Washed-out driveway

Businesses

If your business has sustained damage from the flood, please file a report here: https://vermont211.org/business-form#Business%20Form

For a complete guide on how to begin recovery for your business after a disaster, visit https://vtsbdc.org/…/VtSBDC-cover-and-pages…

If you had damage to crops, forage, equipment, and buildings please use the following resources: www.Agriculture.Vermont.Gov/Flood

What to do after reporting?

a) Take photos of your damaged home and belongings.

b) Make a list of damaged or lost items.

c) If you have insurance, you must file a claim with your insurance company.

Flood insurance covers damage due to overland flow affecting two or more properties. This includes damage to utilities in the basement. A homeowner’s policy will not cover losses due to flooding

d) Begin clean up. After taking photos, you should immediately throw away flooded items that pose a health risk, such as perishable food items, clothing, cushions, and pillows.
